Introduction to Psychosexual Therapy

Friday 10th April: 9.30 - 1.30

40 British pounds
Regents Pavillion, Summerhouse Road, Northampton

Training Description

This introductory training offers a thoughtful and reflective space for practitioners to explore how personal beliefs, experiences and cultural influences can shape the way we understand and respond to sexuality within therapeutic work. Sexuality is a natural part of human experience, yet it can often feel difficult to talk about openly in the therapy room. This session invites participants to gently examine the attitudes, assumptions and unconscious biases that may influence how we respond when clients bring sexual themes, concerns or behaviours into their sessions. Through guided reflection and discussion, the training encourages practitioners to deepen their self-awareness and consider how personal beliefs may affect their confidence and freedom to explore these topics therapeutically. By strengthening this reflective capacity, therapists can develop greater comfort, curiosity and professionalism when supporting clients to explore their relational, emotional and erotic worlds in a safe and respectful way. This training is suitable for counsellors, psychotherapists and other professionals who wish to build confidence in holding conversations about sexuality within a therapeutic context. The training will be delivered by Peter Keightley, an experienced psychosexual and relationship therapist who works with individuals and couples to explore issues relating to sexuality, relationships and compulsive sexual behaviours, with a focus on creating a non-judgemental space where clients can develop a more positive and fulfilling relationship with their sexuality.
