About Yvette

Yvette works directly for the local authority working with adopted children and young people as well as children in care which has involved working with complex historical traumas. This experience has been a foundation for her trauma work as well as training counsellors and therapists in trauma informed best practice. For the past ten years, she has worked for the East Midlands Children & Young People’s Sexual Assault Service, working directly with ages from 4 years. Yvette also works in private practice and is a clinical lead therapist for a leading regional family-based charity.

Research with Kidscape UK alongside the University of York culminated with her contribution to a research paper in 2024 evidencing the effectiveness of trauma therapy to children and young people who have experienced traumatic bullying. Yvette also contributed to a research paper demonstrating the efficacy of counselling families who have experienced domestic abuse alongside ACE’s with the Crysalys Foundation, Service Six, Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service and the University of Northampton.

Yvette’s own thesis when completing her MSc focused on traumatised young people who had experienced sexual abuse or sexual assault and how through their therapy, they can move from PTSD and develop towards post traumatic growth. Yvette is strongly involved with the Crysalys Foundation and has contributed to their website, ‘Tackling Trauma’.
